Ilton Daltro

Hi! I’m from Brazil. In 2010 I completed my PhD in Sciences in the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in the area of Organic Synthesis. My project involved the preparation of phopsphatase inhibitors, and investigated for their antincancer activity through in vitro and in vivo assays. In September 2011, I moved to Montreal to start my post doctoral fellowship at McGill University in Dr. Sleiman's group.  My project proposes the synthesis of organic polymers containing DNA bases and their analogues, through the creation of monomers containing synthetic DNA bases, followed by their polymerization through cross-coupling reactions (eg. ROMP, Sonogashira, Suzuki, peptide and oligonucleotide coupling).

I also like to play sports, specially volleyball, despite being injured L. I am vegetarian, I like healthy food and to try new things. I want to make the most of Montreal while I am here.
